Well, I guess it's time to deal with some of the stacks of fan mail that are cluttering almost every inch of my double-wide. Is amazing to me how quickly these letters accumulate, but I suppose I have been lazy about dealing with them in a expeditious manner. So, rather than sit here and try to find ways to procrastinate any further, even though there are many household tasks which require my attention, I will take the time to read a few letters and do my very best to answer the questions contained within.

The letter that is currently in my hand contains a query which is so mind-bogglingly stupid that I can hardly believe the individual who wrote it is serious. However, I must as a professional poker writer deal with all communications as if they are directed to me with true intent, because you can never be too careful.

Out of respect for the identity of the individual who sent me this letter, I will simply refer to him as Mr. X from Portland. And my response goes as follows: "Yes, Mr. X, I would seriously advise that you only gamble at Web sites with the very best software. While we're at it, could I further caution you to always hold your breath while under water, refrain from sticking a fork in an electrical socket whenever possible, try not to make any jokes about terrorism while checking through airport security and be sure to remember your wife’s birthday (assuming there is another creature on this planet even dumber than you are and therefore willing to be your spouse). Thanks for writing, Floyd."

OK, that last bit was unnecessarily harsh, but the question Mr. X asked really cheesed me off. I mean, how empty is this man's cranium? Obviously you should only gamble at Web sites using the very best software. Why? For one thing, your security and privacy of personal information should be the paramount concern at all times. Unless every measure is being taken to protect your money and identity, and a random number generator is assuring the fairness of the games, how can you possibly gamble in peace?

Secondly, only Web sites using the best software will be able to offer you the type of realistic gaming experience you have come to expect from the Internet. Why bother with some cruddy graphics and terrible sound effects which will always be the result of poor, outdated software? Life is just to short to waste your time with that kind of garbage.

Always insist upon the best, that is Floyd Manning's motto. Well, it is today, anyway. I might think of another one tomorrow or the next day. In the meantime, my apologies go out to Mr. and Mrs. X.
