What people wear while gambling at home
Want to know what people wear when they gamble at home?
It is fascinating to see the way online poker is not only changing the the way people think about gambling in general, but is having an unparalleled impact upon various aspects of contemporary life. I realize that to some of you who don't make a point of studying online poker in depth, my first sentence may seem a bit overblown. But please believe me that the truth is just the opposite: if anything, I was underestimating the impact that online poker has had on society.
There is little doubt that poker is a force which will only continue to assert its dominance in American life. If you need any proof of this assertion, just flick on the television some time and see how many professional games are being broadcast. If that does not convince you, just go on the computer some time and take a casual spin around cyberspace. You will quickly notice there are almost as many online poker rooms as there are porn sites. Obviously, that is quite a lot.
Poker is no longer simply the realm of seasoned professionals who literally grew up in casinos. It is a game for the masses, one which adapts itself well to being played in a number of different environments. And here’s where I would like to focus our attention, on the phenomenon of Internet poker as it it is most often played in individual residences. Specifically, how do people dress when they’re playing poker on their home computer?
As you might suspect, there’s no one simple answer to that question. I have done quite a bit of research in this area, even going so far as to strap on my trusty binoculars and peer into the windows of some of my neighbors. Believe me, the results of my survey have been quite astounding.
Basically, when it comes to acceptable Internet gambling attire, the rules are that there are no rules. I mean, anything goes. I've spied on individuals playing in formal wear, beach wear, Hawaiian shirts, tank tops, evening gowns, top hats, sandals, feathered boas, jumpsuits, hot pants and, yes, even in their birthday suits. Trust me, this is not as interesting as it may sound. In fact, the lenses of my binoculars broke - I mean literally shattered - when I peeped in the trailer of a certain 80-year-old, 350-pound female neighbor of mine as she played some online no-limit Texas Holdem in the altogether.
But, you may be wondering, what about when people host casino gambling parties at home, sitting around the table for some friendly hands of blackjackor poker and some social intoxication? I have found that there is little variation here from the trend found in computer gambling. Namely, people tend to wear whatever they feel like wearing. The idea is to be comfortable, so that you do not get distracted by ill-fitting clothes and can focus strictly up on your game plan. When you think about it, comfort just makes sense.
